Canticle of Creation

1.
Beloved maiden, sweet Brigid you are the spring and new life for this world. Men may defile you, women may banish you but you cannot be removed from the soil. There was a time when you could not bare it all and your tears soaked the earth for what you saw. On that hallowed ground there grew a fruit tree with Eden's fruit, brought to light, through your tears. Oh wise midwife, threshold keeper there's a harsh bitter cold in these times but in your tender heart there lives a beauty it's the gold that fills the cracks where we divide. Beloved maiden, sweet Brigid you are the spring and new life in my veins.

Magnificat 05:04
My soul shall praise and magnify you Lord Yes I will come, Yes I have come. I hear your voice it's calling out my name Into my life, You shall be born All generations praise to hold with me The sacred heart, my beating heart, My soul is placed into this fire of love Yes it becomes, God's will be done The proud cannot hear beyond their words Their thoughts enclosed, so stale and old The rich cannot receive what they don't own This emptiness, the spaciousness All generations praise to hold with me The sacred heart, my beating heart, My soul is placed into this fire of love Yes it becomes, God's will be done Spread out the feast, let those in hunger come Your face be shown, your love made known. The humble hear your voice, with you they sing Magnificat, Magnificat All generations praise to hold with me The sacred heart, my beating heart, My soul is placed into this fire of love Yes it becomes, God's will be done Reach out to touch the world that is to come Magnificat, magnificat [source inspiration = Luke 1:46–55]

POEM: St. Gobnait and the Place of Her Resurrection [by Christine Valters Paintner] On the tiny limestone island an angel buzzes to Gobnait in a dream, disrupts her plans, sends her in search of nine white deer. She wanders for miles across sea and land until at last they appear and rather than running toward them she falls gently to wet ground, sits in silence as light crawls across sky, lets their long legs approach and their soft, curious noses surround her. Breathing slowly, she slides back onto grass and clover and knows nothing surpasses this moment, a heaven of hooves and dew. Is there a place for each of us, where we no longer yearn to be elsewhere? Where our work is to simply soften, wait, and pay close attention? She smiles as bees gather eagerly around her too, wings humming softly as they collect essence of wildflowers, transmuting labor into gold.

Lord make me a channel of your peace grant that I can see through my human pain and still feel loved And in the darkness let light be found, in here Lord make me a channel of your peace we all need to learn to forgive a few more hundred times Melt our hatred let love take root in our hearts Lord make me a channel of your peace through my own pain and need let me learn to understand Reach through our sorrow let it be joy Make me a channel of peace in my life

Diane's Song 04:49
Never give up on me Never let go of me Never forget who I am I gave up long ago I let go of everything Except for the pieces in my hands I am the death that greets, the womb that held you, not long ago I am always with you, always kindling the light you hold. I am the death that waits, the womb that held you so long ago I am always in you, always tending the fire you hold. Please never give up on me Never let go of me Never forget who I am

about

These songs were, for the most part, recorded during the covid-19 pandemic. They have been my way of centering, a compass as I walk through this time of fear, uncertainty, and vast social injustice. Beneath the visions of the Celtic saints, the songs are composed of prayers and stories that captured places where I felt intimacy and healing pour out from land and people around me, where I found myself astonished by unexpected resilience. It gives me great joy to be able to share them with you.
